On Saturday, September 18th, SHS 2nd-year student Koushiro Nishimura participated in the 59th Annual Hakodate District High School English Speech Contest.
The contest took place at the Hakodate Commercial High School.
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the speeches took place in a room where just the judges were present, but the speeches were live-streamed to the viewing room where the other contestants and coaches were watching.
Nishimura delivered an excellent speech called “The Magic of Assumptions” about how making assumptions can affect our daily lives, as well as society as a whole.
The judges remarked how the content of Nishimura’s speech was very interesting, and also that his tone and delivery seemed very natural.
Overall, Nishimura’s wonderful speech won 2nd place in the competition, and a representative position in the All-Hokkaido competition taking place in October in Sapporo.
第59回函館地区高等学校英語弁論大会
9月18日(土)に、函館商業高校で開催された第59回函館地区高等学校英語弁論大会に高２生の西村幸四郎君が出場しました。
新型コロナウイルス感染拡大防止のため、発表者は審査員とともに個室に分散し、発表はビデオ会議システムを通じて配信され、他室にて他の参加者と指導者が視聴する形式で行われました。
西村君は"The Magic of Assumptions"と題して、仮定という行為が私たちの日常生活や社会全体にどのように影響するかを論じました。
素晴らしいスピーチでした。
審査員からは、西村君のスピーチの内容が非常に興味深く、また、彼の口ぶりや話し方などがとても自然であったと講評をいただきました。
このスピーチで西村君は大会２位となり、10月に札幌で開催予定の全道大会への出場権利を得ました。
