On Friday, March 3rd, members of the La Salle English Club visited the Hakodate School for the Deaf ("Hakoro", for short). The purpose of the visit was to gain a deeper understanding of accessibility issues faced by the local community. After getting to know each other, the students had a panel discussion that included the sharing of opinions and Q&A. The La Salle students and Hakoro students were able to communicate through assistive technology that can transcribe speech. The La Salle students could learn a lot about what it's like to live with a hearing impairment in Hakodate. We hope that these kind of experiences allow the students to become more open-minded and promote a more inclusive future.
函館聾学校でアクセシビリティの課題についての討論を行いました
3月3日(金)、英語クラブの部員が函館聾学校（略称：ハコロー）を訪問しました。
今回の訪問は、地域コミュニティが直面しているアクセシビリティの問題への理解を深めることを目的としていました。
生徒同士の交流の後、意見交換や質疑応答を含むパネルディスカッションを行いました。
部員たちと聾学校生たちは、音声の文字起こし技術を使ってコミュニケーションをとることができました。
函館で聴覚障がいのある方々がどのような生活を送っているのか、部員たちは多く学ばせていただくことができました。
このような体験を通して、生徒たちがよりオープンな心を持ち、よりインクルーシブな未来（すべての人がお互いの人権と尊厳を大事にして生きていける社会）の実現に向けて貢献していくことを期待しています。
